Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
The Centre for Development in South Sudan (CDI) is deeply committed to promoting gender equality and protecting the rights and dignity of women and girls across South Sudan. Through its advocacy and awareness programs, CDI addresses key issues related to Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), and the elimination of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
CDI works closely with communities, local leaders, women’s groups, and government institutions to raise awareness on the impacts of GBV and harmful cultural practices, empowering survivors and promoting access to justice and psychosocial support. The organization conducts community dialogues, radio talk shows, and training sessions to challenge social norms that perpetuate violence and discrimination against women and girls.
As part of its commitment to safeguarding, CDI has integrated PSEA measures into all its programs—training staff, volunteers, and partners on ethical conduct, reporting mechanisms, and survivor-centered responses. The organization also partners with key protection actors to ensure accountability and strengthen community-based protection systems.
Through continuous advocacy, CDI strives to create safer, more inclusive communities where women and girls can live free from violence, coercion, and exploitation—realizing their full potential as equal partners in development.
CDI staff engage community members in a PSEA awareness session, teaching them about protection measures and how to report concerns or violations.
As the youth leader for MenEngage South Sudan 2024 and 2025 CDI is actively participating in shaping the regional anti FGM bill that is aimed to protect all girls by criminalizing FGM within the East African Countries.
