Peacebuilding

The Center for Development Initiative (CDI) plays an important role in strengthening peace and social cohesion across South Sudan. Through its community-focused approach, CDI brings people together to discuss common challenges, resolve tensions, and build trust among diverse groups.

At the heart of this work are inclusive dialogue forums and community meetings held in villages, payams, and counties. These gatherings create safe spaces where community members—women, men, youth, elders, and local leaders—can freely express their concerns, share experiences, and jointly explore peaceful solutions. CDI facilitators guide the discussions to promote understanding, reduce misunderstandings, and encourage cooperation between groups that may have experienced conflict or displacement.

By continuously engaging communities through these meetings, CDI helps strengthen local conflict-resolution structures, prevent violence, and support long-term reconciliation. This consistent presence on the ground has made CDI a trusted partner in promoting peace, unity, and stability in South Sudan.
