Our Vision

A world where women and girls are free from marginalization and injustice.

Our Mission

A better world through kindness to all.

Motivation for CDI-Initiative

CDI-Initiative was established in 2018 as a national youth and refugee-led organization in South Sudan, born out of the desire to respond to the immense suffering caused by the 2013 and 2016 conflicts. Founded by a group of young South Sudanese—mostly women—the organization emerged from a shared commitment to support affected families, particularly young women, to rebuild their lives and live with dignity. CDI-Initiative strives to create opportunities for recovery, empowerment, and sustainable development among communities most impacted by conflict and displacement.

A Better world through kindness to all.

Our Interventions

Food Security and Livelihood

CDI has launched a livelihood recovery initiative to support returnees in South Sudan by providing essential farming tools and seeds. This effort aims to help families restart agricultural activities, enhance food security, and restore self-reliance as they rebuild their lives and communities after displacement.

Peacebuilding

The Center for Development Initiative (CDI) plays an important role in strengthening peace and social cohesion across South Sudan. Through its community-focused approach, CDI brings people together to discuss common challenges, resolve tensions, and build trust among diverse groups.

Youth Economic Empowerment

Young entrepreneur supported by CDI proudly showcases her products during the Open Youth Market Day in Juba. The event is part of CDI’s Youth Economic Empowerment Program, which equips young people with skills, resources, and opportunities to start businesses, earn a livelihood, and contribute to South Sudan’s economic growth.

Gender Based Violence - Advocacy

CDI staff facilitate a community training session on Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH), raising awareness on prevention measures and reporting procedures. The activity reflects CDI’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable populations and promoting accountability, dignity, and respect within all community interventions.
